Strainstall AMTS supply both free standing capstans and capstans that are integrated with quick release mooring hooks. They are extremely rugged in construction and are simple to operate.

They are supplied with either hydraulic or electric motors and have a typical line pull capacity of 15kN with line speeds varying from 15 metres/minute up to 30 metres/minute. Electric drives are offered AC or DC and the hydraulic drives operate off a central hydraulic system or a dedicated system supplied with the unit. Standard available gearboxes are used to achieve easy maintenance and broadly available spare parts All our capstans can come with explosion proof motors and controls for use in hostile or volatile environments.

Although capstans are often supplied as an integral part of the hook package, some customers require separate or additional capstans as part of a facility upgrade, which we are happy to supply.
